Paul Adams is a seasoned intellectual property litigator. Paul's first taste of litigation came while employed as a new lawyer at The Boeing Company involving the wing design of the 707 airplane. Other early case involvement was in Chicago in 1964 -- infringement of the trademark YO YO; lost on genericness grounds. Since that time he has been involved in patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases for both small and large clients. For a list of recent litigation see Selected Cases.
Paul is currently of counsel to Hisey Grafe, PC in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Paul is a member of the bars of California, New Mexico, Washington, Colorado and Illinois . He has been a registered patent attorney since 1963.
In the past ten years Paul litigated cases for Peacock, Myers & Adams, a local intellectual property firm. Litigation for the firm involved many small, and several large, lawsuits for patent infringement, trademark and trade dress infringement, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition (false advertising) and copyright infringement. Several suits were prosecuted to obtain assignment of rights from University exprofessors. A number of these cases have been tried to jury verdict in Federal District courts throughout the country.
In the early 1980's Paul crossed his patent experience with a stint as the CEO of a start-up company financed by venture capitalists, Corning Inc. and the 3M Company. The company designed, manufactured and sold fiber optic data communication equipment. After five years the company was sold to a listed company.
